FAQs
Got questions? Good — the more you understand about head lice, the less scary this whole thing is. Here are the ones I get asked the most.
Do I need to clean my whole house? No. Lice live on the head, not in the home. You don't need to bag up stuffed animals, fumigate, or run ten loads of laundry. Save your energy — it belongs in the hair, not the house.
Does my whole family need to be checked? Yes, I recommend it. If one person in the home has lice, chances are someone else does too — and it's not always who you'd expect. The person who first showed symptoms isn't always "patient zero." A full household check catches what a single check might miss.
What if you check and we don't actually have lice — do I still pay? Yes. You're paying for my time and expertise, not a guaranteed diagnosis. A thorough check takes real time regardless of the outcome, and honestly, "good news, you're clear" is a result worth paying for too — it means you can stop worrying and stop digging through your kid's hair every five minutes.
How long does an appointment take? Most single-person treatments take 1–1.5 hours depending on hair length, thickness, and severity. Families are typically seen together in one visit. On average, a family of four can be completely lice- and nit-free in about 4–4.5 hours total.
Do you use pesticides? No. My method uses oil and a professional-grade comb to physically remove lice and nits — no harsh chemicals, no pesticide resistance issues. It's the same reason this approach succeeds where a lot of over-the-counter pesticide treatments fail: it addresses the entire life cycle, not just the bugs you can see today.
What's actually in the follow-up plan? Every case gets a custom follow-up plan based on your specific situation, which typically involves sleeping with oil in the hair for a set number of nights to address the full lice life cycle. I'll walk you through exactly what to do — no guesswork, no vague instructions to "just check again in a week."
Is this safe? My child has sensitive skin. The process uses olive oil, which is generally very well tolerated. If your child has a known allergy or sensitivity to oils, let me know before the appointment so we can talk it through.
Do you treat all hair types? Yes. Thick, long, curly, coily, fine — the method works the same way regardless of hair type, though very thick or long hair may take a bit longer.
Can I just buy a comb from you instead of booking a full appointment? Yes! If you'd rather try it yourself first, I sell professional-grade lice combs individually, and I'm happy to walk you through how to use it. Every appointment also includes one complimentary comb.
How much does it cost? See the full [Pricing page] for current rates. In short: pricing is per person with a discount for additional family members, plus a small travel fee depending on distance.
How do I pay? Payment is due at the time of service, and confirms your appointment. I accept card, cash, and Venmo. Many FSA/HSA plans cover lice treatment — ask me for an itemized receipt if you need one for reimbursement.
Can I book same-day? Often, yes — same-day and next-day appointments are frequently available. Text me and I'll do my best to get you in quickly.
What if I need an appointment outside your regular availability? Text me with your name, a bit about the situation, how many people need to be checked, and your location, and I'll do my best to work something out.
Do you come to me? Yes — that's the whole point. No clinic visit, no waiting room, no explaining to your kid why you're at a doctor's office. I come to your home, on your schedule.
Will you judge me for having lice? Never. Lice have nothing to do with cleanliness, and it can happen to absolutely anyone. I've been exactly where you are — no judgment, ever, just help.
Is treatment guaranteed? The process itself is thorough and effective when the full follow-up plan is completed. What I can promise is expertise, patience, and a clear plan — not a magic wand. Following the full follow-up plan is what actually gets a case fully resolved.
Still have a question I didn't cover? Text or email me — I'm happy to talk it through before you book.
